Q: What is a Professional Organizer? |
|
A: Professional Organizers provide ideas, information, products and assistance to help you meet your organizational goals. We also guide, encourage and educate our clients to maintain the solutions or systems that we help put into place. We offer support, focus and direction. Q: What is a CERTIFIED Professional Organizer®?A: Certification is the professional recognition of organizers who meet specific high standards, and who have proven themselves through passing an examination. Additionally through extensive practical, they have proven that they possess the superior knowledge and skills needed in the field. The CPO® program promotes, fosters and safeguards industry standards, practices and ethics. You can trust that a CPO® has the highest attainable professional qualifications. BCPO Q: How do I know if I really need a Professional Organizer?A: If you keep thinking that you will get to it on your own but never do, an Organizer can help give you ideas and put you on track with their advice, solutions and physical assistance. Q: I am a very private person, will this be confidential?A: YES, absolutely. I am aware that my clients place a great deal of trust in me. As a member of NAPO, I abide by a Code of Ethics to ensure that all client information remains totally confidential. I can assure you that any work we do, situation I encounter or information I learn will remain confidential at all times. Q: Are you just going to come in and throw everything away?A: No, nothing gets thrown away without your specific approval. My goal is to help you determine what things are still useful, beautiful, and needed to live your present life to its fullest. Toward this end, I find easy ways to preserve your important memorabilia — honoring your past — and I look to find places for future growth, preparing you for your future as well. I am a master of space planning, so if it is important we can save it. Q: How do you charge, by the project or by the hour?A: Most Certified Professional Organizers® charge by the hour, and so do I. Believe me, I am your cheerleader. I will keep you on track and motivated so that you will get the maximum value out of the time we spend together. Many clients are shocked at how much we can get done in so little time! Q: What will it cost? Is it expensive?A: Consider what being disorganized costs you in material terms. For one example, do you find that you are repurchase items that you already own but you have misplaced? And there's more than the monetary cost. Think of the cost in wasted time, expended energy, unsatisfactory relationships, and negative self-image. When you realize the costs to other areas of your life, this investment in yourself, and your home, and perhaps your family that will last a long time. Q: How long will it take?A: Every project is unique. Your goals, the scope of the project, and your own level of motivation and commitment are all important factors. On your part, clear communication and focused decision-making can speed the process along. On my part, my considerable experience and knowledge will keep us on the right track. Remember, a disorganized home or office did not get that way overnight, we will need some time and effort to correct it. Once corrected, things will need minor daily maintenance to keep it that way. Q: Can I really get organized for good?A: Regardless of your talents and gifts, I can teach you new coping skills that will make your life easier. No one solution works for everyone. Many organizing systems that you might see as you shop around will prove to be too complicated for your project or lifestyle. My mission is to tailor solutions to Simplify You! Q: Do I need to be there when you are organizing me?A: Most clients want to work side by side so that they can learn skills and double the "person hours" to complete the project more quickly. However, some of my clients leave me work solo - but only after we have thoroughly discussed the goals they want to achieve. This is known as the "the magic wand" service. Ultimately, therefore, It is entirely up to you whether you want or need to be present. Q: Instructions are sometimes hard for me to follow. How can I be sure I can learn all this?A: Some people learn by listening, some by seeing or reading, and others by doing. I will take into account your personal learning style when I teach you new skills. And you will find that I am very patient with any questions you may have. (In fact, I welcome them!) Q: Can you help my kids?A: I love working with children and have lots of experience motivating them to get their rooms or backpacks organized! The organization skills that they learn when they're young will serve them well in years to come. They will make your life much easier as well! Q: Where do my discarded items go?A: Click here to go to the Resources page for a list of disposal options. |
